The Art of Being You: Your Mirror Moment

Every day, there is a moment when you face yourself in the mirror. It can be a moment of connection or a moment of rejection.
I call it Your Mirror Moment.
One woman uses it to reconnect with herself - makeup becomes a tool to unleash her creativity, hairstyle is an extension of her confidence, perfume her way of expressing her sensuality.
It’s a sacred moment when she uses Beauty to express herself - to enhance what she loves and to consciously choose which parts of herself she wants to bring out to play that day.

For another woman, that Mirror Moment can be the most painful moment of the day. It becomes a time for self-judgement and noticing everything that is wrong with her. Makeup becomes a camouflage, clothes are used as armour, imperfect hair an excuse not to feel beautiful.
For her, beauty becomes a mask to hide behind in order to seek external acceptance, admiration, love even. Or a villain in the story where femininity is seen as weakness as opposed to the biggest source of expression, freedom and playfulness.
From a young age, we learn that being beautiful in the way that aims to please is often rewarded with approval, attention, and acceptance. And that beauty is something that can only be achieved if we adjust, soften, correct, hide, or pretend to be someone we’re not.
So over time, often without even noticing it, we adapt. We shrink. We decorate ourselves in order to fit in and our makeup, clothes and hairstyle become correction tools.
But only a decoration is made to please everyone, and you are a goddamn piece of art!
And art is not meant to be safe.
It’s not subject to any limits.
It’s meant to be expressive and free.
And so are you.

Beauty is not vanity. It’s something we crave instinctively - in nature, music, scent, colour, people.
So what if, instead of treating beauty as an armour, you began experiencing it as a ritual that forms part of that sacred Mirror Moment when you truly meet yourself?
A moment when you break even your own rules to create something new, to explore, to play.

Because when chosen consciously, a ritual of beauty becomes a gateway — not to perfection, but to self-connection and self-expression. It’s a ritual that draws us into the presence and brings us back into the body. Into the senses. It softens time and creates a moment when you are invited to meet yourself exactly how you are.
That is the perfectly imperfect Art of Being You.
